Stephen W. Pournaras, Jr., M.D

Meet Stephen W. Pournaras, Jr., M.D., FAAOS Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon Hand, Wrist, Elbow & Shoulder

As a specialist in the surgery of the hand, wrist and upper extremities, my practice is primarily focused on traumatic injuries including fractures, nerve problems, chronic conditions such as tendinitis, and arthritic conditions.

I believe in a team-oriented approach to treatment, which often involves physical and occupational therapists to maximize functional outcome for all my patients.

Dr. Pournaras is well versed in arthroscopy of the shoulder, including rotator cuff repair, wrist and elbow. He specializes in Endoscopic Carpal Tunnel release and thumb arthritis surgery.

Arthroscopy is a surgical procedure during which the internal structure of a joint is examined for diagnosis and treatment of problems inside the joint. In arthroscopic examination, a small incision is made in the patient’s skin through which pencil-sized instruments that have a small lens and lighting system (arthroscope) are passed.
